Gary Lillie Memorial

Our next event will be the Gary Lillie Memorial trial which will be held on Saturday,  November 4th. Gary, who passed a year ago from cancer, was a great friend of mine and was a charter member of our club. He introduced me to the Moesgaard/Dixieland line of GSPs over 20 years ago. He is pictured here with his dog, Cody, who is Shawnee’s father. Also, he and his wife Carol are pictured in our Photo Gallery (photo #7). Thus, I thought it fitting to name an event after him.
We will be conducting the Gary Lillie Memorial trial…learn more under a “beat your brace mate” format. Those of you who have competed in match play format golf tournaments will understand how this works. Complete rules and entry will be on Entry Forms and Rules page/beat your brace mate.

Basically, it goes like this:
Two dogs and two handlers in a 20 acre field. There will be a five (5) bird plant for each brace. The dog with the most birds in a 15 minute run will win the brace and move on to the next round of the tournament. The loser of the brace will move on to the consolation round.

Thus, everyone will run in at least two braces. We will run in both fields and could go to four fields depending on the number of entries.

There will be both flushing and pointing categories with open and novice divisions in each category. This will be a lot of fun for both entrants and spectators alike. Go to our Entry Forms and Rules page to get details and to enter.
